Just curious, anyone else with a 4cyl notice how the transmission strategy programmed into the TCM seems a bit....odd? Hanging onto gears and things like that.

I've got the V6 but I haven't noticed anything similar.

Maybe it is a 4cylinder thing....or maybe its just me, I haven't owned and regularly driven an automatic since 2001. All my previous cars were manual trans. Anyway it only has 600 miles on it so my 100,000 mile warranty is in effect for....a little longer.

I do know that in cold temps the tranny hangs onto a gear a bit longer but I think that is a function of bringing the fluid up to ideal operating temps ASAP. Once the engine is warm tranny function goes back to normal.

My v6 with auto tends to 'wander' around through gears more than previous vehicles I've owned. Of coarse, when O/D is turned off, this is not an issue.
I think part of it is where I live.. a lot of small hills and gradual slopes to deal with.

automatics are a pain in the ass. i love my manual it gives me more control off roading. plus it makes your car a little less likely to be stolen
