The stock tires are bad! The BFG Rugged Trails on mine are now at 50%-60% or so, and they only have about 18,000km on them, following the tire rotation schedule.
Then again, every new vehicle I have purchased had cheap tires on them. Not sure on the max tire size. Maybe you could find some info on the Frontier forums where it is discussed more.

If you can't source the information from someone else check out the related post from Squid on this site called "Wheel Terminology 101". If you follow it through you should be able to come up with the answer on your own.

You can not go any bigger then 265/75/16 (Stock size) on a stock equator. That tire is roughly a 32"x10.5"x16". The next size up is a 285/75/16 (33"x11.5"x16") which you can fit but you have to hack up your fenders.
I've known guys that have 4" lifts on their Frontiers that run 285/75/16's but they rub every now and then with no mud flaps and the lower bumper valance removed. |

I have a 2010 RMZ-4 with a 2.5 inch lift on the front and i am running 285/75/16s with no rub after i took the mud flaps off. Any lift kit that will fit the frontier will fit our trucks. I will post some pics of mine or you can go to clubfrontier and see them in the equator section.
