I learned this a couple of years ago when some slob stole my shop vac out of my truck when I ran into a gas station to pay. Get one of those bicycle cables you can find at walmart for less then $10 and lock it to the tie down. Now you always have a way to not only lock stuff but also secure it so it doesn't roll around.
