Default Need Some Feedback

Next project for me is adding the trailer hitch. Any of you know of any pro or cons to those that are offered. Seen Valley Ind, Curt, Reese, U-Haul, and OEM Suzuki/Nissan. I like the set-up ambenisar used and they way he put the 7-pin lug right in the bumper. Think I'll revisit his post on that installation when I do mine.

The only other mod I'm thinking about is adding the nav system for the dash. Any of you tried this yet?

OEM is a no brainer when it comes to installation and just as good as any of the aftermarket hitches out there IMO.

What was most important to me was getting a hitch that didn't hang down to far from the bumper. I didn't want to get it hung up on anything. I liked the round bar hitch I think it looks better than the square tubing. Have been very happy with the paint/finish on the hitch. It's standing up to all the salt they throw on the roads up here with no rust at all.

Hello --

I'd be interested in knowing what you did in terms of the trailer hitch. Just bought an '09 Equator with tow package and was thinking that a trailer hitch would be toward the top of the "next purchase" list. Also, if you have a link to the ambenisar post you referenced above, I would appreciate it. I looked around a bit on the forum but didn't see it. Thanks.

P.S. -- Never mind about the link to ambenisar's post. I looked around some more and found it.

I prefer the Valley Industries hitch, but all those offered seem good. If the tow package you have doesn't include the wiring harness I would recommend the Suzuki, or Nissan harness. A couple of guys in the forum have tried other aftermarket brands, and have run into some problems getting all the light functions to work properly. IMO, I think the relays that come with the factory harness remove all the hassle of getting one to work right. I'm curious what the tow package included on your Equator?

Just re-read my prior post and did the palm on the forehead face slap. Meant to say that I'm interested in a hitch RACK, i.e., one for bikes. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I used a spare tire bike rack for years on my old Montero, but I have zero experience with hitch racks. I assume Yakima and Thule are good, but they can be overpriced at times in comparison to some of the lesser-known manufacturers such as Allen.

Not being a guy who tows anything, I couldn't give you any details at this point other than it has a 2" receiver hitch and the wiring harness installed. The fact that the truck included the tow package wasn't really a selling point for me other than the possibility of using the hitch to support a rack.

Thanks for the reply and clarification CalHorn. I don't know if there are any Tractor Supply Companies near you, but they have some inexpensive hitch racks that might work for you. I've not used one myself, so can't offer much up on this.

Thanks, Sekidou. I'll check into TSC. There aren't any in my immediate area, but my job travels occasionally take me near some TSC stores.
