Default Problems when AC is on?

I get horrific acceleration when my AC is on from a dead stop. I usually turn it off get going then turn it back on. I read in another part of this forum to turn the O/D off when you are going under 40 helps with acceleration which has been giving me problems from a dead stop.

IMO the A/C taked 5-10HP to run. I don't think you would notice unless you have the 4 banger.the OD shouldn't be a factor in accelleration untill you hit that gear. the TPS knows where your foot is and shifts accordingly. If you want more/better acceleration you gatta push the go pedal more. Or try a couple engine mods to free up some power. I have heard the 4L responds well to intake and exhaust mods.

I believe wide open throttle is restricted until about 35-40 mph.
